Soft lenses are the everyday option for most prescriptions, including short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism and multifocal. Daily disposables, fortnightly and monthly lenses are all available.
A contact lens fitting is not the same as a glasses prescription. The lens sits on the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye, so the fit, the material and the way you wear them all matter for the health of the eye.
It starts with a comprehensive examination. The cornea and tear film are then assessed and a lens chosen for your prescription, the shape of your eye and how you want to wear it.
If you’re new to contact lenses, we book a separate appointment dedicated to fitting your lenses and teaching you how to insert, remove and care for them.
We take the time to make sure you’re confident and comfortable before you leave.
Sport, occasions or every day. Multifocal soft lenses for people over 40 who would rather not reach for glasses. There is no age limit on contact lenses, so children and teenagers can be fitted where appropriate.
Contact lens wearers are reviewed at least once a year, because the eye is checked as well as the lens. Lenses are ordered through the practice and we remind you when a review is due.
Appointment 1: A comprehensive eye examination to confirm contact lenses are suitable for you.
Appointment 2: Your lenses are fitted and you’re taught how to insert, remove and care for them, then you leave with a pair to trial.
Appointment 3: A review with your lenses in to check comfort and vision, help with any difficulties and fine-tune your prescription if needed. Depending on your eyes and lens type, further appointments may be required.
