EYE CARE

Emergency eye care

Urgent eye problems, seen quickly
THE CONDITION

Some eye problems should not wait for the next available appointment.

Remy will endeavour to see last-minute emergencies on the day and works alongside local GPs and ophthalmologists where further care is needed.

WHAT COUNTS AS AN EMERGENCY
Red or painful eyes.
Something in the eye.
A scratch to the eye.
Sudden flashes or floaters.
A sudden change or loss of vision.
If you are unsure, call and ask.
What to do first

Call the practice and your symptoms will be discussed and triaged to arrange the appropriate next steps.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE APPOINTMENT

A targeted, timely approach is taken to identify and manage the presenting issue, with the front and back of the eye examined under magnification and imaging used where it helps.

Our optometrists are therapeutically endorsed, which means they can prescribe eye medication where it is needed.

After hours

Outside practice hours, or for a severe injury or sudden loss of vision, go to your nearest hospital emergency department.

Call ahead where you can. It lets us make room for you.
